Fortification of the City

He then turned his attention to the defense of the city by changing the Mausoleum of Adrian into a fortress capable of sustaining a an attack, and the fortification of Torre di Nona prevented any naval attacks.


French Involvment

Pope Alexander VI made many alliance to secure his position. Some of these Treaties included the French King Charles VIII and Ludovico il Moro Sforza, the de facto ruler of Milan who needed French support to legitimise his regime. He at first encouraged The French King in his conquest of Naples, but later he made peace with the help of a spanish ambassador.

Education

Although he had no great claim to learning he fostered literature and science. As a cardinal he wrote two treatises on canonical subjects and a defence of the Christian Faith.  He also rebulit the Roman Univeristy and payed the professors to teach there.
